Mission Statement: 'Supporting High Quality Music Education for All'

NAME, The National Association of Music Educators exists to support its members in the development of music education of the highest quality which is accessible to all.

We achieve this by:-

  • Contributing to the creation of a strong and unified voice for music education nationally                             
  • Providing a forum for professional exchange through local, national and regional events
  • Promoting the professional development of members
  • Informing members of current developments through our publications and newsletters
  • Collaborating with other appropriate organisations

The promotion of Equal Opportunities is fundamental to the practice of NAME

NAME works closely with other organisations to influence and develop policy and practice in all aspects of music in education. These include government departments such as: 

  • Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
  • Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA)
  • Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA)
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)

We also work with other professional associations such as

  • Music Education Council (MEC)
  • Council for Subject Associations (CfSA) 
  • Federation of Music Services (FMS)
  • Schools Music Association (SMA)

NAME’s other key activities include the publication of a range of books, magazines and bulletins, an annual conference, and regional networks.
