As the 2007-08 Chair of NAME, Keith Stubbs, worked with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s Education Department, it was appropriate that the International Convention Centre in the centre of Birmingham should be the exciting venue for this year’s two-day conference. Choosing the ICC not only gave delegates the opportunity to experience for themselves the wonderful facilities offered by this venue but also allowed them a range of overnight accommodation options.

7 July 2008

The AST Conference took place on Monday 7th July 2008 at Bath Spa University. This was the sixth year that Music ASTs were invited to attend a conference specifically planned for them. The National Association of Music Educators (NAME) organised the conference with funding from the Department of Children, Schools and Families ((DCSF)).

The main conference report is available for download, along with Richard Hallam's keynote speech and Baz Chapman's presentation.

14 September 2007 - 16 September 2007

The new conference centre at Royal Holloway College in Egham provided an excellent setting for our 2007 Conference. An outbreak of foot and mouth disease on a farm in the region did not prevent the conference from going ahead, though delays on the M25 meant some delegates did not arrive for the start.

On Saturday 4th February sixty delegates attended a joint conference presented jointly by NAME, Schools Music Association (East Midlands) and the Yorkshire Association for Music and Special Educational Needs. The title of the conference was Music for All and a range of practical workshops were offered to the enthusiastic delegates as the photos show! The workshops covered the areas of special education and Key Stages 1-3.
