London Professional Development Day for early years workforce and teachers, music and dance professionals

A Professional Development day for members of the early years workforce, music and dance professionals, will take place in London on FRIDAY 23 OCTOBER 2009.
 
This event will be delivered in partnership by Music House for Children, a specialist music provision and training school for young children, and by Stepping into Music, which is the Dalcroze Society's acclaimed early years workshop and delivery programme.
 
This training offers participants an opportunity to explore for themselves the proven benefits of this type of activity in early years settings. It is a direct learning and professional development opportunity which is suitable for all levels of musical experience, either as a means of developing music and movement provision for the first time, or of extending existing practice. Participants will take part in workshops, seminars, and discussion opportunities, which will provide them with practical and sustainable skills.
 
All participants will:
 
1) Experience movement and dance using the Dalcroze inspired approach

2) Learn to use and understand appropriate instruments

3) Enjoy new songs and activities

4) Understand how music and movement can be applied successfully in early years settings

5) Take part in practical workshops and creative seminars

6) Share ideas and experiences with colleagues from both the early years and performing arts sectors

1) A published music book for use in their setting

2) Lots of interactive experience with trainers and participants from both sectors

3) Instruments available at a special rate

4) A resources pack supporting the day’s activities

5) A certificate of attendance

6) Signposting and information about future training in early years music and movement
 
Sessions will be led by Emma Hutchinson of Music House for Children, and by Margareta Burrell and Anita Strevens, the Creative Directors of Stepping into Music. All leaders are highly respected training providers with wide-ranging experience in delivery to this age group, and to parents and supporters.
 
This event will take place at Bush Hall, 310 Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, London W12 7LJ. Lunch / refreshments will be provided.
 
The cost is £50 per participant.
