New Report shows Positive Effects of Web on Music Education
A new multimedia report entitled "We Are Teaching Music", examining how today's teachers and practitioners use social media has been published online by Teaching Music, the online community for music educators. The report finds that the web is playing an increasingly important role in helping educators to learn, showcase work and develop new initiatives in a cost effective way. ‘We Are Teaching Music’ includes contributions from a wide range of education professionals and leaders at all levels. Contributors include Keith Stubbs (former NAME chair) Ben Sandbrook (Youth Music), Hannah Elder, Orchestra Education Manager of Royal Opera House, Ben Cleverdon (an AST music teacher) and Liz Olner (an NQT). Topics covered in the report include linking formal and informal sectors, better CPD and increasing participation in music activities.
The video interviews and accompanying resources in We Are Teaching Music give practical examples of how the web can be used by music educators and organisations to work more cost effectively, develop new skills and reach new audiences.
