NAME has been involved in the development of two websites funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA): the Subject Resource Network for those involved in teacher education; and the Teaching Music site, developed in partnership with the Music Education Council (MEC).

Teaching Music

The Teaching Music website was originally constructed as part of an on-line continuing professional development (CPD) pilot project funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) intended ‘to develop and enhance the subject specific on-line/distance CPD opportunities available to primary and secondary teachers’. Four subjects were chosen for the pilot scheme – English, History, Music and Business Studies – with NAME and the Music Education Council (MEC) jointly running the music strand.

Subject Resource Network

This website, developed with funding from the TDA, supported all those working in teacher education. NAME took over the management of the site in 2006 and the steering group was led by the chair of NAME’s Initial Teacher Education/Higher Education (ITE/HE) Focus Group. 

The website was intended to assist colleagues in supporting their subject knowledge and skills through access to information; resources; best practice; professional development and involvement in related research. Areas within the site included:
