Ways Into Music - Making Every Child's Music Matter
The starting point for this book is that everyone is musical and has the capacity to express themselves through music. People make music, engage with it, learn about it and respond to it in different ways and this diversity needs to be catered for and fostered within the educational system so that the needs of all children and young people are met and they feel fully involved with their music education.
Ways into Music discusses how the aspiration that “every child’s music matters” can be realised in practice and aims to support all those who are trying to develop their practice to achieve this aim. It includes contributions from musicians, writers, teachers and researchers with a wide range of expertise. It combines research-based study, personal reflection and thoughtful practical experience relevant to those working across a wide age-range. It will provide plenty of food for thought for all those involved in music education with children and young people, and offers suggestions for practical ideas that can be utilised and developed.
